BUNGE has an exciting opportunity available for a Project Manager in our plant in Barcelona. The ideal candidate will report to the Plant Manager and functionally to the Project Market Leader. Performs complex assignments often requiring the development of new or improved products/processes/techniques. Assesses feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering tests/products/equipment. Coordinates planning, safety, organization, and implementation of engineering projects within constraints of specific objectives and target dates as specified by management.
The position requires an ability to interpret on a broad basis, principles, theories, and concepts of an engineering specialty, lead all the projects of the plant and interact with the top management of the region and Europe in order to discuss topics related to the projects.
Implement on the factory project management methodologies, tools and ensure the use of standards to achieve planned product and or technical results within time and budget.
Provide technical leadership and oversight for the execution of allocated CAPEX at plant level.
Champion safety in all areas of their expertise and ensures adequate process and construction safety is embedded in all projects.

More on the Project Manager:
- Lead engineering projects and/or contributes engineering expertise/workstream leadership to larger projects ensuring their successful completion.
- Lead and/or participate in the resolution of engineering issues such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of standard materials, and other related engineering project issues/challenges.
- Coordinate project activities with other operating or engineering units to facilitate the availability/participation of appropriate staff in local engineering project to ensure their completion in-line with all relevant project deliverables.
- Participate/contribute to engineering projects elsewhere within the organization as necessary.
- Review, maintain and update project-related documentation as necessary to ensure its accuracy and to meet project governance requirements.
- Participate in professional organizations to maintain current knowledge of technical innovations.
- Assist in determining project objectives to contribute to the development of comprehensive project design, ensure optimized cost-effectiveness, integration/alignment with standardized solutions in place elsewhere within Bunge, etc.
- Translate project requirements into detailed actions plans, resource requirements/allocations, expenditure timing, etc., and assign work to others as necessary, monitoring/overseeing progress to ensure that objectives are being met.
- Provides technical direction to project team members.
- Lead full life cycle for SUSTAINING and PRODUCTIVITY projects of the plant.
- Necessary skills to be a good presenter in front of the top management.
- Performs conventional, less complex engineering assignments that may involve equipment or product design, testing of materials, preparation of specifications, process studies, or research investigations.
- Be able to lead a large engineering project and/or lead small, relatively straightforward engineering projects.
- This position represents that of a ‘professional’ Engineer and is at a higher level than a new Engineering graduate. This level of role requires the jobholder to have 7 years’ highly relevant experience in addition to a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and also Project management education.
- Selects engineering techniques to solve problems and make design recommendations.
We are looking for different skills in our ideal candidate:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required; Chemical, Civil, Mechanical or Agricultural related engineering preferred.
- Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
- 5+ years engineering experience. 2 years of experience managing others is preferred.
- Deep knowledge and expertise in oils chemistry, engineering and operations.
- 3 years’ experience in management of major engineering/construction projects including estimating, scheduling and cost control required; experience in oilseeds handling and processing is preferred.
- Working knowledge of safety, environmental, sustainability, quality and continuous improvement.
- Project management methodologies proficiency.
- Understanding of the Total Cost of Ownership Concepts.
- General understanding of business performance indicators as NPV, IRR, Payback and project economics.
- Must possess a demonstrated high degree of tact in dealing with both plant staff and craft personnel.
- The ability to gain various stakeholders’ support for ideas, proposals, and solutions, as well as develop, maintain, and strengthen partnerships with others inside or outside the organization who can provide information, assistance, and support.
- good knowledge of written and spoken English + country language
- Excel, MS Project, Office, Autocad, SAP.
