Position Details:
Hours: 12-hour shifts: 6am-6pm or 6pm-6am
Compensation: $24-$28 an hour
What You’ll Be Doing:
Primary responsibility is the operation of the grain elevator as it pertains to loading, unloading and transferring grain and grain products in an efficient, safe and sanitary manner. Also assists or leads in all other aspects of grain handling, storage, maintaining facilities/equipment and elevator operations.
A Day In The Life:
- Perform preventative maintenance (PM) of equipment and maintain PM program.
- Complete daily plant walkthroughs and perform equipment checks.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues such as probes, alarms, PLCs, winches, spout, etc.
- Fabricate parts, fix leaks in spouts, etc.
- Complete small maintenance projects such as changing belts, small motors, and gearboxes.
- Assist in developing scope of work for contractors.
- Assists in all areas of the loading, unloading, and transferring of grain and grain products for truck, barge, rail (location specific) and inspects barges, trucks, and railcars before loading.
- Subject matter expert in all facets of Bunge’s safety programs and culture, has a strong working knowledge of safety procedures and environmental regulations, demonstrates safe working practices, has the ability to perform JHA’s, recognize near misses, and lead safety meetings.
- Perform housekeeping and cleaning duties.
- Performs barge and rail draft calculations.
- Oversees maintenance projects, has a strong understanding of all facets of maintenance for the facility and is an equipment expert.
- Ability to accurately perform inventory management.
- Leads operations in the absence of management.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent desired
- Associates, Technical, or Mechanical Degree desired
- 5+ years of experience
- Agricultural and/or grain elevator experience preferred.
- Basic written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated computer skills—Microsoft Office
- Demonstrated ability to work in a safety conscious environment.
- Ability to work in a highly quality controlled environment.
- Skilled in maintenance, equipment operations, safety programs and grain operations
- Ability to lead others and maintain a good working relationship with other facility personnel.
- Welding and light fabrication required.
- Lubrication, bearing installation, equipment troubleshooting skills required.
