Overview:
An Principal Integration Engineer is a senior-level role that involves overseeing the integration strategy and architecture of an entire organization or a large-scale project. They are involved in defining the vision, goals, principles, and governance of integration, as well as evaluating and selecting the appropriate integration technologies, tools, and methodologies. They also collaborate with other architects, developers, analysts, and stakeholders to ensure that the integration solutions are aligned with the business needs, the enterprise architecture, and the IT infrastructure. A successful integration architectneeds to have extensive experience and knowledge in integration design patterns, architectures, frameworks, and standards, such as service-oriented architecture (SOA), microservices, enterprise service bus (ESB), application programming interfaces (APIs), and messaging systems. You also need to have strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, as well as a broad understanding of various domains, such as business, data, security, and cloud.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Accountable for the results of a large and/or moderately complex project(s). Provides input on resource planning and policy development.
  • Ensure requirements are met and evaluate performance with customer.
  • Coordinate the support for software patching and compliance on end user devices.
  • Evaluate existing systems and/or user needs to analyze, design, recommend, and implement information system changes.
  • Coordinate designs of subsystems and integration of total system.
  • Collaborate to deliver architectural coherence and support performance, safety, modularity, redundancy, quality tradeoff analysis of the autonomy system.
  • Perform multiple roles as needed during the course of the project.
  • Coordinate the prioritization of engineering analysis to mitigate technical and program risks
  • Establishes and implements the integration framework strategy, short to mid term (1-3 years).
  • Integration framework initiative will have impact on the business on an international scale
  • This individual is recognized as an external thought leader within strategic function or discipline.
  • Provide technical program management as a integration development lead.
  • Lead a team to technical consensus on major decisions.
  • Accountable for the results of a large and/or moderately complex integration project(s). Provides input on resource planning and policy development.
  • Responsible for the write up of the technical portion of proposals for integration related projects
  • Perform code reviews to ensure implementation aligns with architecture and integration best practices
  • Problems faced are difficult and often complex and multi-dimensional. Decisions and problem-solving are guided by policies, procedures and business plan.
  • Anticipates and interprets internal or external issues and recommends solutions/best practices. Applies acquired expertise to analyze and solve problems without clear precedent.
  • Represent the organization as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects
  • Design, develop and execute software solutions to address complex technical problems.
  • Participate in the evaluation and introduction of new technologies.
  • Manages operational plans, large projects, and processes with limited oversight from manager. 
  • Leads and participates, with comparable influence to manager, in large projects and initiatives.
  • Provides leadership to solution architects and their team (5+).
  • Mentor and work with domain-related architects, developers, and testers throughout projects, contributing to short to mid term (1-3 years) talent optimization.
  • Support and guide integration architecture governance team and practices in accordance with business 
  • and IT strategies.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 6 - 10 years of position related experience, or equivalent combo of education and experience level. Has in-depth knowledge in integration architecture and systems and basic knowledge of related disciplines.
  • Expert level proficiency with programming languages such as Java, C#, or Python. Ability to write advanced code and understand advanced programming concepts.
  • Expert level experience with API integration and understanding of web services using RESTful API's and web services: Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP), Web, and others. 
  • Expert knowledge of databases and SQL, ability to write complex queries for data retrieval.
  • Expert level knowledge of Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) and ESB concepts and experience with Middleware such as Mulesoft, IBM Integration Bus, and similar.
  • Expert level understanding of secure integration techniques using OAuth, JWT, etc. Domain expertise in encryption and secure communication and messaging
  • Expert level knowledge of monitoring and use of monitoring tools to stabilize and improve integrations and integration health.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, and attention to detail and accuracy. Presents status updates and other project communications to business stakeholders, leadership and executive leadership as required. May attend industry events as representative of Bunge to present on technology trends and best practices.
  • Expert collaborator and comfortable with a variety of stakeholder backgrounds and types. 
  • Establishes, drives, and leads team to shared goals and project success. Seen as trusted advisor and consulted for expert level opinion on strategic decisions.
  • Strong work ethic. Professional attitude and a service-oriented team player and leader. Acts as a mentor and provides guidance for junior team members.
